Pope Benedict XVI hopes his messages will help the Middle East find peace

Pope Benedict XVI hoped on Wednesday that the “messages” he voiced during his visit to Lebanon, last weekend, will help make crucial steps towards peace and better understanding between Christians and Muslims.

The Pope addressed around 7000 people who came from across the world, at the Paul VI Audience Hall in the Vatican, after his 3-day visit to Lebanon.

Pope Benedict XVI said that “he spoke from the bottom of his heart about the tragic and painful events occurring in the Middle Eastern region," adding that he “encourages all legitimate aspirations for peace through prayers”.

The Pope noted that the days he spent in Lebanon were “a demonstration of faith, showing strong devotion and prophetic signs of peace”.
