Free Syrian Army troop attacks LAF center in Arsal

The Lebanese Armed Forces leadership declared on Saturday that for the second time within less than a week, a troop from the Free Syrian Army entered the Lebanese territory in the mountainous region of Arsal, and attacked one of LAF’s centers, while no injuries were reported.

The leadership issued a statement whereby it noted that, due to this incident, the LAF started to bring in more soldiers to pursue the militants who escaped towards the mountains and a number of border towns.

The Lebanese Army stressed that it “will not allow any party to use the Lebanese territory in an attempt to implicate Lebanon in the unrest sweeping through neighboring countries”.

In this framework, sources revealed to LBCI that the confrontation between the Lebanese Army and the Free Syrian Army took place in the area of Khirbet Daoud in the abscess of Arsal, 5 kilometers away from the border on the Lebanese side.

Sources mentioned that an army unit was setting up an ambush in the mentioned area and caught a small truck carrying FSA members. Later on, other trucks and cars transporting FSA armed members arrived to the scene to support the other militants.
