Aoun: Many are trying to get rid of me

Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun said that some are talking about an attempt to prevent his convoy from reaching the town of Mayfouq.          

“We have the right to pass through all Lebanese regions; anyone who prevents us will be referred to the security forces”, he said following his bloc’s weekly meeting.         

On the attempt to assassinate him, Aoun called on the media to stop spreading rumors and false information and leave it to the Judiciary. “This is not the first attempt to assassinate me; it is shameful to deny what happened before the completion of investigations”, he said.

"Many are trying to get rid of me and the apparatus that rushes to spread rumors may be negatively affected by our presence", he said.  

Aoun considered that the frequent attacks against the Lebanese army in Arsal make the town’s mayor play the role of an army commander, pointing out that Syrian refugees have now become a security threat to the Lebanese people.          

Aoun extended his condolences to the family of Lieutenant Colonel martyr Abbas Jemaa who succumbed to his wounds sustained during an LAF raid in Beirut’s southern suburbs. “The military institution offers martyrs and loses lives for our nation; it is bound to make such sacrifices to protect its people.”
