Sami Gemayel seeking to get PSP approval of 50 districts electoral law
Kataeb central committee coordinator MP Sami Gemayel said on Friday that "what matters now is reaching a draft election law that could be ratified at the Parliament."

“This is why we considered that an electoral law based on 50 districts would be the best acceptable compromise to steer clear of the 1960s law”, he said, considering that should another law be adopted including one based on proportional representation, objections “will come from all sides.”

Before a crowd in Kesrouan, Gemayel said that the electoral law based on 50 districts was almost unanimously approved by Bkerke’s committee.

“They went a long way to complete it and it was approved by the Future Movement”, he said, adding that his party is still seeking to garner the approval of the Progressive Socialist Party.

“This is a draft law that could be ratified; I assure you that any electoral law that would favor either March 14 or March 8 will not pass”, he said.
