Reasons behind ban of Turkish movie "Fetih 1453"
Lebanese Movie theatres closed their doors in front of the Turkish movie titled "Fetih 1453", after banning it for being offensive to Christianity, especially the Orthodox.

The opponents of the movie listed countless of defects leading to the ban, such as falsification of dates, undermining the blood of the victims who were killed by Sultan Mohammad VI and insulting the Christian religion.

In this context, Rodrigue Khoury, who is a member from "al-Machreq" party which rejects the movie, told LBCI that the decision of the General Security to ban this film is considered as a victory for right over wrong and a victory for Lebanon's message which calls for dialogue between cultures. "However, the message behind the movie is to bring conflict between cultures", he noted.

Khoury stressed that the aforementioned movie "falsify dates and affects the sacred matters, and this fact is considered as terrorism".

For his part, Father Abdo Abou Kasem, director of the Catholic Center of Information told LBCI that this movie creates strife between Christians and Muslims and includes facts which tarnish the image of the Christian religion.

Father Kasem noted that in this movie, "the executioner appears as a victim while the Christians are displayed as the evil ones."
