Cabinet convenes at Grand Serail to look into 7 administrative items

The Cabinet convened Monday in an ordinary session at the Grand Serail under the chairmanship of PM Najib Mikati, in the presence of the majority of ministers except for: Adnan Mansour, Ghazi Aridi, Nicolas Sehnaoui, Alaeddine Terro and Salim Karam.   

The session aims at looking into seven items of an administrative nature.           

In this regard, PM Najib Mikati stressed that today’s session aims at keeping up with the latest global trends related to modernization, marking a first since the 1960s. He pointed out that the cabinet is fulfilling its duties following the decline of services provided to citizens due to the administration’s sluggishness and lack of modernization.

Prior to the session, Environment Minister Nazem Khoury described today's ministerial meeting as "administrative par excellence" and "very important" since it “activates administrative reform and regulates the work of state institutions.”     

In turn, Interior Minister Marwan Charbel said that appointments relevant to the Ministry were ready and would be issued soon.       

Also on appointments, State Minister for Administrative Development, Mohammad Fneish, indicated that the process is taking place according to a specific mechanism, adding that it was at its final stage “since the names suggested were referred to the competent ministers.”      

On the ranks and salaries series, Fneish said it has been approved, adding that research was underway for means of funding.
