REPORT: Did today's general strike receive full commitment?
Schools' commitment to the strike held by the Union Coordinating Committee to protest the delay in referring the pay scale to Parliament, differed between various schools, as some institutions closed their doors while others held a regular academic day.

Amid this disparity in commitments, students' parents were confused whether or not to send their children to school.

In this context, the head of the Private Schools Teachers Association Nehme Mahfoud refused the postponement of the referral of the scale to Parliament, noting that the taxes discussed by cabinet to fund the pay scale, are in fact dedicated for the funding of the state's deficit.

On the other hand, Catholic schools that stressed on holding a normal school day on Thursday, clarified that their stance was based on having to clarify to others their nonthreatening nature, the Catholic Schools Secretary General said.

For its part, the Union Coordinating Committee launched subsequent meetings to set up the next steps in this regard.
