March 14 youth organizations set up tents outside Grand Serail, launch open sit-in
March 14 partisans set up tents outside Grand Serail to denounce the assassination of Major General Wissam al-Hassan and call for the resignation of the current government, launching an open sit-in which will last until the resignation of PM Najib Mikati.

Earlier, March 14 had organized rallies attended by Achrafieh's residents to call for the resignation of the cabinet.

Youth organizations had considered that Major General Wissam Hassan is the martyr of the entire nation, stressing that the blood of innocents will not be spilled.

In a press conference held in downtown Beirut’s Martyrs Square, the organizations stressed that the confrontation is ongoing, calling on the people to rise up against the “killing machine” and to protect Lebanon from both the Syrian and Iranian regimes.

These organizations also called for the expulsion of the Syrian ambassador to Lebanon and the elimination of “illegitimate weapons.”

Positions

In a speech, MP Marwan Hamadeh said that March 14 will be launching a revolution to destroy President Bashar Assad. “This time we will not be satisfied with half a victory; we will fight till the end.”

In turn, MP Ahmad Fatfat said that Syrian President Bashar Assad wants to return to Lebanon through assassinations. “But thanks to the Lebanese youth and the Syrian people, he will not succeed; Lebanon’s sovereignty is not negotiable”, he added.

For her part, media figure May Chidiac said “We will stay here until we achieve freedom.”

In conclusion, the head of the Change Movement Elie Mahfoud said “we will pull them from their beds and drag them to the streets.”
