France, Britain send messages to President Sleiman
The British ambassador to Lebanon Tom Fletcher denounced on Saturday the explosion which targeted Achrafieh and led to the death of Brig. Gen. Wissam al-Hassan, stressing that the International community is ready to support the Lebanese government in order to be able to deal with such incident. Fletcher had met with Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, and discussed ways to improve the capabilities of the Lebanese Armed Forces and support the investigations in the case, to uncover the perpetrators.

Fletcher stressed that his country will cooperate with the Lebanese authorities to encourage unity, stability and sovereignty.

For his part, French ambassador to Lebanon Patrice Paoli said, following his meeting with President Sleiman, that Wissam al-Hassan had always sought justice and Lebanon's stability. He stressed that the constitutional institutions must not suspend their work, despite the difficult situation, adding that the government must continue performing its duties.

The French ambassador called on the Lebanese people to unite amid this critical situation.
