Following the weekly Change and Reform bloc meeting, FPM leader Michel Aoun held a press conference in which he stated that "those who are mobilizing the streets today, can be accused of the assassination of Brig. Gen. Hassan." Commenting on the political accusations, Aoun said that he was subjected to an attempted assassination but left it up to the hands of the judiciary. "They wrongfully accused me of exploiting the assassination attempt for electoral purposes," he stressed. "Those who corrupt results of investigations prior to their issuance should learn to wait for the truth. Those who have nothing to do with investigatory procedures accused me of fabrication," he said. "Why is the assassination being tied to the election law, payscale and other issues?" he asked. "As gunmen of foreign nationalities are being seen on Tareeq Jdideh and surrounding areas? We support the Lebanese Armed Forces for what it represents to our history."
