Chatah to LBCI: Cabinet lost citizens’ trust

Adviser to former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, former Minister Mohammad Chatah said on Saturday that the current cabinet has always been silent before all the attacks that targeted Lebanon, noting that the country is facing a “real national crisis.”

Chatah told Nharkom Said that the President Michel Sleiman realized that the Syrian threat against Lebanon is imminent and grave, “this is why he changed his position regarding Syria.”

“Is this cabinet capable of leading the country to a safe harbor?” Chatah asked, stressing that it has for sure lost the citizens’ trust.

In this context, Chatah said that a cabinet that does not abide by the points agreed upon by all parties is useless. “The new cabinet must protect the country from the repercussions of the Syrian crisis and keep it out of the Iranian strategy,” he stressed.
