Jumblatt: International Community should end debate and save the Syrian people

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt said on Thursday that, “over the remains of the Syrian people and on the ruins of the Syrian heritage, some corners of the so-called International Community are exchanging debates concerning the interpretations of the Geneva Accord which has long since deceased.”                

Jumblatt noted that the Russian and French Foreign Ministers discuss, with calm nerves, interpretations of the stipulations of the Geneva Accord.               

“Between this and that, the US Secretary of State warns the opposition against possible inclination towards extremism, forgetting that the international passiveness in offering support for the opposition from the beginning of the revolution to topple the regime and the refrain from recognizing the Syrian National Council are the main reasons behind the development of the situation in Syria,” Jumblatt said.                    

Jumblatt pointed that the intellectual and theoretical luxury is enjoyed by the International Community, while Syria is completely burning. "This proves the theory of a plot aiming at destroying Syria going in full swing," he said, adding that “if only the International Community suspends its theoretical debate and kicks off actual work to save the Syrian people from this existing crisis.”
