The truth behind LBCI's crew's involvement in the shelling of Aazaz

In August 2012, an electronic website affiliated with the Syrian Opposition said that 2 Lebanese reporters identified the location where the 11 Lebanese detainees were located in Aazaz via Google Earth.

According to the website, they reported the place to Hezbollah which in turn briefed the Syrian Intelligence on the locality, leading to its bombardment.

In this context, An-Nahar Lebanese Daily said that the issue was side swept due to the immensity of tension at the height of the event, however a recent interview between Deputy Okab Sakr's and Paula Yacoubian placed LBCI reporter Nada Andraos and cameraman responsible without directly naming them.

The newspaper also mentioned that media outlets at the time were reporting the shelling of Aazaz where the detainees are located without reference to any possible involvement of any Lebanese persons in the incident.

Deputy Sakr said that when LBCI reported the death of all detainees, he called the institution asking concerned persons to correct the information, but to no avail.

Meanwhile, speaking to An-Nahar Nada Andraos denied all allegations alluded to her person by Deputy Sakr claiming that she personally called him via his Turkish line whereby he assured her that the detainees were all safe.

According to An-Nahar, cameraman Said Baitamouni almost submit his resignation to the CEO of LBCI Pierre Daher on the backdrop of mentioning his name in such an issue.

As for the websites that mentioned the names of Andraos and Baitamouni, they will have to face LBCI before the judicial court in the coming days as soon as Attorney Naoum Farah studies the case and identifies all concerned parties.
