Administration and Justice Committee holds meeting upon the request of its Rapporteur

The Parliament's Administration and Justice Committee held on Wednesday a meeting in the Parliament called forth by its Rapporteur Deputy Nawar al-Sahili.

Sahili said that the committee has studied the draft law submitted by the government regarding the exchange of tax information.

He pointed out that article 27 of the aforementioned draft law is clear and states the following: “each committee meets upon a request from its rapporteur when the president cannot carry out his functions as commissioned by the House Speaker”.

“If March14 decided to boycott the cabinet, they can still attend the committee’s meetings and chair them seemingly since this is the president of the committee’s right, and the latter may discuss this issue with other members,” Sahili concluded.

Earlier MP Robert Ghanem recalled item 27 of the rules of procedure, stipulating that the rapporteur convenes the committee when the president cannot carry out his functions as commissioned by the House Speaker.

Speaking to LBCI via Nharkom Said, Ghanem pointed out that so long as the president is there, no one, rapporteur or not, can call on the committee to convene.
