Obama sends letter to Sleiman, congratulates him on Independence Day

On the occasion of Independence Day, Lebanese President Michel Sleiman received a letter from US President Barack Obama.

In the letter, Obama said, "I congratulate you and the Lebanese people on Independence Day. The United States highly values its relations with Lebanon and its people, who have repeatedly confirmed their strong commitment to building a society based on diversity and democratic values. We, as Lebanon faces regional and internal challenges, reaffirm our commitment to support its independence, sovereignty and stability, looking forward to strengthen mutual cooperation between both countries for the interest of the peoples, their freedom, security and prosperity."
