Pope Benedict XVI meets with new cardinals

Pope Benedict XVI met on Monday with the newly elevated cardinals, including Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi, at the Vatican.

During his meeting with the new Cardinals, the Pope expressed the joy he felt when he visited Lebanon and the Middle East church, calling on the Christians of the Middle East to work in order to restore peace in the region.

The Pope said that the Cardinals' mission is to spread the Church's message which is peace. He also met Cardinals' families and gave them his blessing.
