SCC strikes for second day in a row

The Syndicate Coordination Committee (SCC) went on with its strike and sit-ins for the second day in a row outside public institutions across Lebanon in protest of the Parliament’s failure to ratify the ranks and salaries series.

In this regard, during a central sit-in held by the Syndicate Coordination Committee outside the TVA siege in Corniche El Naher, the head of the Secondary Teachers Union Hanna Gharib stressed that the SCC is capable of taking further escalatory steps by holding more sit-ins and open-ended strikes if the series is not referred to Parliament.

“There is no state without civil servants; paralyzing the public sector is no longer a slogan but has now turned into concrete action,” he said.

In turn, SCC member Mohammad Qassim said that the Committee will go on with its strike until the referral of the series to Parliament. Qassim held the government fully responsible for this strike.
