REPORT: Campaign dedicated to combat violence against women

If some did not stand against the law to protect women from domestic violence, the campaign would have been justified; but some participants in the campaign entitled “Nou’men” (We believe) and launched by Abaad Studies and Research Center a few days ago were the ones to put sticks in the wheels of the law claiming that it was “incompatible with some religious laws.”

There is no doubt that this campaign is highly enticing; in fact, during the week dedicated to combat violence against women, the center decided to put the clergy at the forefront. Is this an attempt to embarrass religious leaders when the law is back on the table?

While it is still too early to judge the campaign, the noble intentions of Abaad and the civil society are not very doubtful. However, the intentions of the new campaign’s heroes are still to be tested.
