REPORT: Bekaa’s security; in the grip of gangs and bandits

In the past month alone, the city of Zahle was subject to 25 car theft cases .

In the latest, Ms. Akram Al-Sayyed was the latest reported victim of theft, after unidentified assailants stole her Grand Cherokee in the locality of Karak Highway Zahle, while she was waiting for her husband who was photocopying documents inside his nearby office.

In a similar story citizen Jean Knayher, a taxi driver, awaits a phone call and a possible ransom demand after his car was stolen a month and a half ago.

8 cars out of the 25 stolen have been retrieved after owners paid a ransom, bringing the number of stolen vehicles down to 17.
