Car bomb attempt foiled in Tareeq Jdideh, Houry comments

A woman found on Thursday a bag thrown underneath a car in the Tareeq al-Jadideh area, and reported it to the security forces. Military experts rushed to the scene with police dogs.

After examining the bag, the security forces found a mortar shell wrapped with explosives, connected to a timer with cables and set to explode.

In this regard, MP Ammar Houry said that he was on his way to the Imam Ali Mosque in Tareeq al-Jdideh to offer his condolences for the death of the manager of his office. “The mortar shell was found about 100 meters from the mosque,” he sai, adding that if it had exploded, it would have killed many Lebanese.
