Mikati: Syrian arrest warrants are valueless political warrants

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Saturday that the Syrian arrest warrants issued against former PM Saad Hariri, MP Okab Saqr are valueless political warrants and are legally null and void.

While receiving guests, Mikati noted that his call for reaching an electoral law and forming a new cabinet to supervise over the elections is the only way out of the current political crisis, stressing that the insistence of some parties on boycotting constitutional institutions and continuing political escalation and weak movements in the streets are a "political suicide and repetition of previous mistakes."

On the other hand, Mikati hoped that all the parties unite in order to save the country, instead of "betting on foreign changes that might never benefit the interest of Lebanon."

Commenting on the issue of Tripoli and the accusations that targeted the cabinet, Mikati said that the government did its best to resolve the conflict in Tripoli and ensured political cover for the Lebanese Army in order to control the situation in the city.
