Aoun: No political void if elections do not take place in time

Head of Change and Reform Bloc MP Michel Aoun accused those who do not want to reach a new electoral law of hindering the elections, reassuring the Lebanese people that the country will not fall into a political void in case the elections do not take place as scheduled, stressing that security and stability will be maintained.

Following the bloc’s weekly meeting, Aoun said that the Christians have been deprived of their rights for years, stressing that there is still time to produce a new electoral law. “March 14 forces cannot impose the elections,” he said.

The Head of Change and Reform Bloc noted that no one has the right to hinder the work of the system through boycotting the Parliament.

In this context, Aoun pointed that there are laws other than the electoral law that need to be discussed in the Parliament, asking Speaker Nabih Berri to call on joint parliamentary committees to look into the existing draft laws that serve the interest of the Lebanese people.
