REPORT: FSA withdraws as mediator from Lebanese detainees' case

The Free Syrian Army (FSA) withdrew as a mediator in the negotiations held to solve the issue of the Lebanese detainees in Aazaz, noting that the FSA has seriously dealt with this case by holding talks with the Lebanese authorities, mainly with former Minister Saad Hariri who deployed strong efforts in order to end it.

"It is unacceptable that one party takes advantage of the detainees' families for political interests, by supporting Assad's regime which is committing crimes against the Syrian people," the Free Syrian Army added.

On the other hand, the Media Coordinator for Free Syrian Army Luay al-Meqdad, accused in a statement to LBCI, "the other party [referring to Hezbollah and Michel Aoun's team] of taking advantage of this humanitarian case," as he said.

Al-Meqdad noted that the mediation was held between them [the FSA], former PM Saad Hariri, MP Okab Saqr and the abductors. "Our contacts did not stop, even if we do not have any contact with any official Lebanese side, but we informed Hariri and Saqr of our decision," he added.
