Funeral of former army commander held at St. George Maronite cathedral

The funeral of Former Army Commander General Ibrahim Tannous was held on Friday at the Saint George Maronite Cathedral in Beirut.            

The ceremony was attended by various political, military and religious figures including Cardinal Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir.                

During the funeral, various words noted the achievements of the late general throughout his work years in the military establishment.                          

General Tannous died on Wednesday the 26th of December at the age of 83.           

He joined the army in 1952 as a cadet officer and progressed to the rank of General Army Commander on the 8th of December 1982.             

He retired from the Lebanese Army in July 1988.
