2012 was a very lucky year for many international musical bands and singers on top of which was Psy, the Korean singer who achieved one success after the other in less than a month and broke the record for YouTube views, prompting U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to describe him as “a force for peace in the world.”       

Maroon Five’s song “Payphone” was also a huge success this year and was ranked number one song in more than 30 countries.  

As for the song “Glad You Came” for boy band, it captured the hearts of music lovers as 3 million copies of the album were sold in the U.S. alone. 

Also in 2012, the British band “One Direction” entered history and with its song entitled “Live While You’re Young”, it won the hearts of Americans and became the fastest selling British song while the band’s fortune reached around 50 million dollars.  

As for the song of Gotye, the Belgian-Australian singer, it was ranked first in Belgium and third in Australia.  In turn, the band Glee broke the records with its song “We Are Young” which was the most downloaded song on iTunes and was used in a car brand publicity, snatching the limelight from Jay-Z and Beyonce.
