Rai holds New Year's mass, calls for peace and compassion

Under the slogan of world peace Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Rahi held New Year's mass at Bkerke on Tuesday whereby he stressed the importance of peace, basing his sermon on the Pope’s message entitled “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God”.

Rai called on all believers to pray for world peace to prevail mainly in Lebanon and Syria, thus abiding by the Pope’s New Year’s message recommendations.

At the St. Georges Church in downtown Beirut, Beirut Metropolitan Orthodox Bishop Elias Audi led New Year’s mass whereby he stressed the importance of serving justice, protecting the rights of our sons, hoping on external parties not to meddle in our internal affairs.

In turn, Beirut Maronite Bishop Boulos Matar led the New Year’s Mass under the slogan of world peace at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Ras Beirut whereby he highlighted the importance of world peace.
