Jumblatt denounces the destruction of Amine Maalouf's home

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt said Tuesday that the destruction of Amin Maalouf’s house exemplifies resentment to the Lebanese heritage and is an attempt to destroy the remnants of the architectural and social memory of the capital “whose municipality undermines the Lebanese people’s intelligence while the Minister of Culture covers destruction works presenting one excuse after the other.”

“With a budget exceeding 500 million dollars, the municipality of Beirut can start acquiring the capital’s remaining ancient heritage buildings instead of remaining a spectator,” Jumblatt said.

The PSP leader called on all concerned specialized authorities to take a firm stance in this regard “in order to put an end to the 'architectural massacre' and the ongoing political mockery which can no longer be tolerated under any circumstances.”
