Kataeb, Ahrar students stage sit-in outside Syrian embassy

The students of the Kataeb and National Liberal Party (Ahrar) staged on Saturday afternoon a sit-in outside the Syrian embassy in Yarzeh, amid intensified security measures. The protesters condemned the continuous interventions of the Syrian ambassador in the Lebanese affairs, and stressed that the tutelage era has long gone and will never return.

The protesters read statements whereby they refused meddling in Lebanese affairs, insulting President or any Lebanese official, employee or minister.

On the other hand, the protesters said that the Syrian ambassador Ali Abdel Karim Ali no longer represents the Syrian people, but a criminal regime, demanding information on the course of investigations into Syrian breaches of Lebanese territories, and on the fate of Maj. Gen. Ali Mamlouk who is involved in the case of former Minister Michel Samaha.
