REPORT: Sleiman meets Russian counterpart, discuss array of issues

Lebanese President Michel Sleiman met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow today.

Talks tackled the situation in the region, mainly the Syrian crisis and the Lebanese domestic affairs.

In this context, President Sleiman urged President Putin to back calls for a global conference on helping Beirut cope with refugees fleeing from Syria.

For his part, Putin told Sleiman at talks that Russia could offer financial and humanitarian aid to help Lebanon cope, but the Kremlin gave no immediate details.
