MP Alain Aoun to LBCI: Orthodox Gathering’s draft law is constitutional and legitimate

Member of the Change and Reform bloc MP Alain Aoun explained on Friday that no agreement has been reached regarding the electoral law during the sessions of the parliamentary sub-committee tasked with discussing a new electoral law, as Future bloc MP Ahmad Fatfat claimed, noting that the sub-committee will issue its report on Tuesday.

Speaking to Nharkom Said, Aoun stressed that there will be no elections held at the expense of the Christians, reiterating that the 1960 law is completely rejected, “no one can play the game of time to prevent a new electoral law from being approved,” he added.

In this context, Aoun added that the Orthodox Gathering’s draft law is constitutional and legitimate, noting that he told the Lebanese people the truth when he warned them against an open ended crisis in case a new electoral law failed to be reached before March 11, 2013.
