Mikati: The Cabinet is keen on maintaining dissociation policy

Prime Minister Najib Mikati stressed the Cabinet's steadfast keenness on the dissociation policy in regards to the Syrian situation, adding that the Cabinet also took this decision as Syria's membership in the Arab League was suspended.

In this context, Mikati met with the British Ambassador to Lebanon Tom Fletcher who said that Syria's neighboring countries are withstanding the huge number of displaced Syrians, and the International Community should provide assistance in this regard.

For his part, UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly also discussed with Mikati the displaced Syrians' file as well as the parliamentary elections.

In addition, PM Mikati extended his condolences to Venezuelan Vice President Nicolas Maduro for the death of Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez.
