REPORT: Higher Islamic Shiite Council delegations visit Dar al-Fatwa

A delegation of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council visited Dar al-Fatwa on Tuesday and met with Grand Mufti Sheikh Rachid Qabbani.                           

Talks featured high on the attacks that targeted four Sunni clerics on Sunday evening, sparking popular outrage with road blocks and demonstrations in Beirut, Tripoli and other areas.
                                     
In this context, Sheikh Ahmad Kabalan voiced his rejection to all forms of assaults to any person, especially clerics, adding that the Shi'ite authority will diligently confront any type of strife.     
                                        
The delegation of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council urged Lebanese politicians to stop all sectarian instigation.                                

For his part, Mufti Qabbani said that those who placed a bet on Sunni-Shiite clashes following the attack on the four sheikhs were mistaken.                                          

However the Grand Sheikh warned that strife begins with such actions urging restraint on the part of all Lebanese citizens.                           

In his concluding remarks, Qabbani announced that State Prosecutor Judge Hatem Madi will be providing him with the details pertaining to the attack against the clerics "as soon as they are made available."
