Patriarch Rai calls on Lebanese people to evade strife

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai said on Thursday that he discussed with Speaker Nabih Berri and PM Najib Mikati ideas regarding the new electoral laws whilst in Rome, noting that any proposal other than the 60s law “will be blessed”.

During a press conference held upon his arrival at Beirut International Airport, Rai stressed that Lebanon is sensitive to events taking place in the Arab World, hoping that the Lebanese people will evade strife and attempts to incite sedition in the country given the regional turmoil.

Commenting on the case of the pay scale, Rai noted that concerned authorities must make the necessary decisions to solve the issue at hand.
