Aoun: Sleiman took a “dictatorial action” to impose the Election Supervisory Committee

Head of Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun said on Saturday that the reasons behind Mikati’s resignation are “insignificant”, noting that President Michel Sleiman took a “dictatorial action” to impose the Election Supervisory Committee, and he ignored the positions of the sects rejecting the 60s electoral law.

During an interview, Aoun pointed out that the visit made by US ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly to a number of officials raised the issue of the Elections Supervisory Committee, stressing that failing to find an officer to fill the position of the ISF Commander Ashraf Rifi after his retirement is considered “an insult to the Internal Security Forces.”

On the other hand, Aoun stated that the Taif Agreement only served for a few years and it was not implemented as it should have been.
