Riad al-Asaad was preparing final assault on Damascus

The British daily “The Guardian” reported that the Free Syrian Army (FSA), whose founder Riad al-Asaad was seriously injured in an assassination attempt on Monday, was allegedly arranging a final attack on Damascus while trying to cut off exit routes to the coast.                

In this context, FSA Commanders said that the crisis would have come to a finale, had the right weapons been provided.

However, well-informed analysts disagree, pointing out that had Asaad lost the capital he would have shifted his heavy weaponry up into the mountains above Damascus, where he would have been “invincible” raining down one barrage after another.
