Solidarity meeting with MP Merhebi held at his residence

A solidarity meeting with MP Mouin Merhebi was held at his residence in Tripoli with MPs Mohammad Kabbara, Khaled Daher and Nidal Tohme present alongside a number of Sheikhs, scholars and social figures.

A statement is expected to be issued in a few moments.

This meeting comes in light of the latest incidents encircling the MP who had opened fire at a security checkpoint in Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli Sunday evening. General Prosecutor Judge Hatem Madi had also called that MP Merehbi's political immunity be lifted on the backdrop of the scuffle which had occurred between the MP and the security forces.
