Siniora: Hezbollah’s participation in Syria’s war violates the constitution

The head of the Future bloc MP Fouad Siniora held on Thursday a series of contacts with a number of officials, including Speaker Nabih Berri, Former Speaker Hussein al-Husseini, vice president of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council Sheikh Abdel Amir Qabalan, former Minister Mohammad Abdel Hamid Baydoun, former Minister Ibrahim Chamseddine, Sayyed Ali Fadlallah, Sayyed Ali al-Amin, Sayyed Mohammad Hassan al-Amin and Sayyed Hani Fahes.         

Discussions during the phone calls focused mainly on the latest developments in Lebanon and the Arab region, where Sionira noted that Hezbollah’s involvement in the battles in Syria is a very dangerous step which violates the Lebanese Constitution, the laws, the Baabda Declaration, the international resolutions and the dissociation policy adopted by the Lebanese government.               

Siniora added that Hezbollah’s actions will drag Lebanon and its people toward a confrontation with the Syrian people, especially those who are against the Syrian regime.                 

In this context, the MP urged officials “to deploy every possible effort to put an end to this participation, pointing out that, instead of encouraging cooperation between the Lebanese factions to protect the country, some groups are throwing themselves in the line of fire, and dragging the Lebanese people towards dire consequences.”
