Siniora calls on Hezbollah to withdraw from Syria, LAF to deploy at borders

The head of the Future bloc MP Fouad Siniora said on Friday that the current situation must be mourned, since “we are witnessing the intervention of Hezbollah in Syria alongside a regime which kills its own people.”

During a graduation ceremony in Sidon, Siniora noted that Hezbollah is now controlling the Syrian town of al-Qusayr and is preparing to enter other locations in Syria, pointing out that “the party has become a part of the Iranian military system in the region and a tool between the hands of a regime which is destroying its nation.”

In this context, Siniora called on Hezbollah to withdraw from Syria "before its too late," and to send back the Lebanese youth back to their homes and families and “refrain from using them as fuel to this Islamic and national strife”.

He urged the Lebanese army to deploy at the northeastern borders to prevent arms and gunmen from crossing to and fro, calling for the complete control of the passages between Lebanon and Syria. He also appealed the LAF to request assistance from international forces according to the resolution 1701 issued by the UN Security Council.
