REPORT: Eight rockets hit Hermel, east Lebanon

Eight rockets hit on Tuesday the town of Hermel, east Lebanon, some of which crashed on the residential areas where a fire erupted in one of the town's homes. The attack caused one injury among Hermel's residents but so far no deaths have been reported.

The rockets also fell on the Tall and Assi road leading to and from the border village.

Rockets and mortar shells have been hitting the area since the onset of violence in neighboring Syria. Hermel, considered a Shiite stronghold has drawn reprisal from rebels fighting the regime of Syrian president Bachar Assad. The rocket attacks come in line with Hezbollah's interference in the Syrian war, particularly the battle of Qusayr whereby the Lebanese group aided in the capture of the rebel stronghold last week.

Separately, citizen Ali Ahmad al-Houjairy was shot dead on Hermel road, as conflicting reports emerged concerning the circumstances of the incident.
