Bassil: Power generating ships to depart next week from Turkey

Energy Minister Gebran Bassil announced on Thursday that power supplying ships will be departing from Turkey next week, stressing that electricity supply will increase up to 3 hours once they arrive to Lebanon.

Bassil who held a press conference said that there are 50,000 displaced Syrian families in Lebanon which increases electricity consumption fees by $75 Million per year.

Bassil hoped that the Interior Ministry and Economy Ministries will keep monitoring the pricing of the generators services.

The minister then added, there are exceptions for electricity distribution outside Beirut, whereby some regions in Lebanon are enjoying a 24/7 electricity current, describing this matter as “unfair”.
