Pharmacy Owners Committee calls for pharmacies closure on Tuesday
The Pharmacy Owners Committee issued on Sunday a statement in which it said that “with every rise in the US dollar exchange rate, drug importers stop delivering pharmacies their daily needs in light of the Ministry of Health’s refusal to issue a new price index that reflects the reality of the market.”

The statement added that such a thing leads to the depletion of pharmacies' stocks of medicines, threatening the health security of citizens as a result of the interruption of a significant number of necessary medicines, especially medicines for chronic and emergency diseases.

The committee called on pharmacists to "close their pharmacies on Tuesday 05/24/2022 until 2:00 p.m. and to stage a sit-in outside the Ministry of Health at 9:30 a.m. to demand an end to the random smuggling of medicines without any oversight from the Ministry of Health, which may include counterfeit, expired or ineffective medicines.
