President Aoun urges world to help Lebanon securing safe return of Syrian refugees
President Michel Aoun asserted on Tuesday that Lebanon is committed to noble principles of the United Nations and its charter and the noble goals it aspires to for the benefit of the peoples of the world.

He also called for the "introduction of necessary reforms in the way of work of this International institution and to multiply efforts to help countries in need for a better future.”

Aoun’s comments were made on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations establishment whereby he praised the support and assistance provided by this organization and friendly countries in addressing the huge repercussions of the Beirut port explosion and recovering from the economic and financial crisis.

He also called on the world "to help Lebanon secure the safe return of the Syrian refugees to their homes because the country is suffering from unprecedented crises and will not be able to continue hosting the largest number of refugees in the world per capita."

President Aoun concluded by stressing that difficulties will not deter Lebanon “from pursuing its positive role at the international level and its constructive interaction with the United Nations and within the international community.”
