Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Joanna Wronecka on Friday morning at the Grand Serail.
“Today, I visited PM Mikati after his participation in the Glasgow COP 26, and our discussion revolved around the Security Council’s session on the 29th of November. I think it is a good thing to meet with Mikati to discuss the ongoing preparations for the meeting. From our end, we are in the process of preparing a report that we will submit to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, to be published later this month,” Wronecka said following her meeting with Mikati.
She explained that the purpose of these meetings is to review the course of political developments in Lebanon and to make a non-biased assessment.
Wronecka expressed the UN’s full support for the government’s work saying "we discussed the overall situation in Lebanon and we encourage the government to proceed with the required reforms.”
