A study has found that tequila can help in weight loss, and lower blood sugar.
In the study led by the American Chemical Society, researchers used mice to conduct the experiments, which revealed that agavina, a sugar that comes from the agave plant used to produce tequila, triggered insulin production and lowered blood sugar.
In addition to these astonishing results, the sweetener also helped the overweight mice drop some heavy LBS.
The agavins are actually a type of fiber that creates a full feeling, ergo suppressing appetite.
“They are sugars, highly soluble, have a low glycemic index, and a neutral taste, but most important, they are not metabolized by humans,” the researchers said, adding that unlike sucrose, fructose and glucose, agavins are not absorbed by the body.
