In a quick tour by LBCI’s crew in Beirut, it was noted that most of the stations reopened their doors as the security forces went to check the stations' stockpile.

The LBCI toured one of the stations, whose owner reported that Minister of Energy Walid Fayyad had made a surprise visit in the morning to check whether the station had a stock of gasoline. It turned out that there was no more fuel, but the owner had a stockpile of only 2,000 liters of gasoline designated for the general security.

A member of the Syndicate of Petrol Station Owners, George Brax, had explained that “communication with the Ministry of Energy and the General Directorate of Oil is ongoing, and there is a promise that a schedule of fuel prices will be issued tomorrow (Friday) morning.”

This as the Ministry of Energy affirmed to LBCI its rejection to what happened on Wednesday, adding that it opposed that stations store gasoline to sell it at a higher rate.
