MP Hariri congratulates Iranian President-elect Rohani

MP Saad Hariri sent on Thursday a letter to congratulate the newly elected Iranian President Hassan Rohani.

MP Hariri expressed hope that the election of Rohani would pave the way "for a new vision for the Iranian leadership."

He also hoped further cooperation between Lebanon and Iran on all levels.

Rowhani won Friday's presidential election outright by gaining nearly 51 percent of the vote, eliminating the need for a runoff.

He is considered relatively moderate, though he backs pursuing Iran's suspect nuclear development program.

MP Hariri also sent a letter to the American ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice to congratulate her on her appointment as the US National Security Adviser.
