Ghanem: Mikati statement was faithfully to our discussion

MP Robert Ghanem told Voice of Lebanon radio station that the statement issued by the information office of PM Najib Mikati recounted faithfully the discussion that went on between them. Ghanem stressed that they did not tackle the thorny issue of funding the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL).

“The meeting that only lasted for a few minutes on the sidelines of a dinner in the Grand Serail in honor of the auditing committees touched upon the separation between ministry and parliament”, Ghanem added.

Ghanem stressed that according to the electoral draft law, judges and individuals holding key posts can only run for elections two years after their mandate expires.

Ghanem explained that the MP wishing to become a minister can only run for a parliamentary seat three or four years after he ceased to be minister prohibiting him from benefitting from the ministry’s services.
