REPORT: UCC to launch one million signatures campaign

The Union Coordination Committee (UCC) is expected to hold a press conference on Tuesday at the UNESCO Palace in Beirut whereby it will launch a one million signatures campaign, urging the government to adopt the series of ranks and salaries, the state-run National News Agency reported on Sunday.

Cabinet referred the wage scale to Parliament following weeks of nationwide protests on Thursday [March 21st].

The Union Coordination Committee had launched its open ended strike on February 19th 2013 after making repeated calls on then Prime Minister Najib Mikati to validate the new salary scale and consequently refer it to Parliament for ratification.
