REPORT: Relatives of Rabih al-Ahmad stage sit-in, call on judiciary to take necessary measures

The relatives of Rabih al-Ahmad who was severely beaten and had his penis amputated by his wife’s family, staged on Friday a sit-in in the town of Harar calling on the judicial authorities to take the necessary measures and to prosecute those who attacked al-Ahmad.

The relatives declared that “revenge is not among their traditions”, noting that their movement is peaceful.

Meanwhile, sources told LBCI that Rabih al-Ahamd’s situation is stable and he will undergo psychiatric treatment, pointing out that an implant surgery is very expensive and calling on caretaker Health Minister Ali Hassan Khalil to interfere.

However, the mayor of the town of Harar Ahmad Antar told LBCI that they held a meeting with caretaker Minister Ghazi Aridi who called on them to remain calm and stressed that the attackers do not have any political cover.

“We fear the incident will be politicized,” he added.
