Hezbollah MP responds to PM Salam’s statement on government’s handling of Israeli aggression

Hezbollah MP Mohammad Raad, head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, criticized the Lebanese government’s handling of Israeli attacks following an emergency Cabinet session at Baabda Palace.

Commenting on Prime Minister Nawaf Salam’s statement after the session, Raad said the government has been unable to stop Israel’s ongoing violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty, which he described as a continuous threat to the country’s security and stability.

“We understand the government’s limitations in facing the aggressive Zionist enemy, and we recognize its right to make decisions regarding war and peace,” Raad said. “But we see no justification for the Prime Minister and his Cabinet, amid this clear incapacity, to take confrontational measures against Lebanese citizens who oppose the occupation, accusing them of undermining a peace that the enemy itself has refused to honor for over a year.”

Raad added that Lebanese citizens had expected a decision to curb aggression but were instead faced with a policy that prohibited opposition to it.

He described Hezbollah’s response to ongoing Israeli attacks as a signal rejecting submission to the enemy and warned that reconciling with Israel is not the path to achieving security and peace in Lebanon.
